After landing in Reykjavik at 6:35 am, we will be picked up by our private motor coach. We will start by exploring Seltún geothermal area. This remarkable landscape is known for its intense geothermal activity, manifesting in a stunning array of bubbling mud pots, steaming fumaroles, and vibrant hot springs.
As you approach Seltún, the first thing you'll notice is the vivid coloration of the ground. The soil and rocks are stained in striking hues of red, yellow, green, and white, caused by the high concentration of minerals such as sulfur, iron, and copper deposited by the geothermal processes. This colorful display creates a surreal and almost alien-like atmosphere that is both enchanting and eerie.
The area is crisscrossed with wooden boardwalks and well-maintained paths, allowing visitors to safely navigate the geothermal features while minimizing the impact on the delicate environment. Viewing platforms provide excellent vantage points to observe the boiling mud pools and hissing steam vents up close. The ever-present steam and the strong, distinctive smell of sulfur add to the sensory experience, making a visit to Seltún a truly immersive encounter with Iceland's geothermal power.
Next stop is Sky Lagoon https://www.skylagoon.com. In no time, we will pamper ourselves at one of Iceland's more famous hot springs, we will be able to soak, relax, and have lunch in the cafe. If you prefer flip-flops for the shower, please bring these items as well.
Next we will travel via private motor coach to the south to Þingborg Wool Store. This store is a charming destination for lovers of authentic Icelandic wool and handicrafts. The store is housed in an old schoolhouse, giving it a rustic and inviting atmosphere. It offers a wide range of high-quality wool products, including locally spun yarn, traditional Icelandic sweaters (lopapeysa), hats, scarves, and other handcrafted garments. Visitors can learn about the process of wool production, from raw fleece to finished garment, and take home unique, hand-made pieces as a lasting memory of Iceland's wool tradition.
We will then head directly to our hotel. We will enjoy a welcome dinner and stay in the beautiful Grimsborgir Hotel https://www.keahotels.is/hotel-grimsborgir (Lunch is not included at the Sky Lagoon, the Welcome Dinner is included).
